New instructor, and new courses in East Devon/West Dorset

by Admin on April 1, 2018

We are delighted to welcome new instructor Carolyn Fry on the border of Devon and Dorset.

Carolyn is an established force free trainer of gundogs with a track record of success in field competition, the shooting field, the show ring and many other disciplines.

She has new courses starting at the end of April 2018 on Monday mornings and Friday evenings.

She has been training dogs since she was a teenager, first with Labradors and then with dual-purpose Golden Retrievers – she both showed Goldens and ran them in working tests and field trials – moving on to Italian Spinones and publishing a book on the breed.

She owned the first male Spinone Field Trial Award Winner, who was also the first Spinone to gain a group award at a Championship Show. She has since bred a number of generations of the Spinone under her ‘Bedeslea’ affix, many of which have won well in several disciplines – the show ring in the UK, across Europe and the USA, field competition, assistance work and film, TV and photography.

From good foundations to fieldwork

She offers pet (life skills) classes, puppy foundation from 11 weeks, and of course the Gundog Club’s graded training open to all types of gundog breeds and cross breeds. All groups are limited to small class sizes and 1-2-1 training can be booked to address specific needs.

Training grounds

Carolyn holds some of her puppy classes indoors, but has a private 5 acre fully-fenced paddock and access to water for gundog training. The grounds have lots of natural scent and are ideal for hunt training and retrieving. Set in a small farm, there are sheep, pigs and poultry to encounter, which is also valuable for the socialisation of younger dogs.

Contact Carolyn

Carolyn’s contact form will be available very soon, in the meantime please send any messages for her to making your message for the attention of Carolyn and we’ll pass it on.
