Thank you so much for writing to
tell us how much you have enjoyed your training.
Here are a selection of comments from
students around the country
"I have been taking part in
the Grade One training sessions and I have to say
that they have been brilliant!
After my first session with
Keith I was shocked at how much I had learnt and
totally amazed how quickly Charley picked up what he
was being taught...
...the whole course is a
great idea as not only do you get the help you need
to train your young dog but you also meet like
minded people who 9 times out of 10 are having the
same battles with their dog as you are...which was
great to know it wasn’t just you who was doing
something wrong!
Marie Reidie, Norfolk
"I just wanted to say how
pleased we are to have found your organisation.
Being new to the gun dog world myself, it has
personally given me such confidence and enjoyment
with training my dogs and I am looking forward to
taking at least one of them up through the levels.
Also the training books are
excellent."
J.W., Bedfordshire
"As a result of my trainer's
help I have gone from a dog who was fit for very
little , to a dog who will retrieve to hand (both
dummies and cold game) is steady to shot and will
move at the speed of lightening when cast off,
whether it be marked or blinds.... ...a most
gratifying course with some of the most welcoming
and friendly people I have come across"
Benjamin Pearl, Devon
"Stephen's passion for dogs
came through, but more importantly he observed the
potential in my dog, and gave calm and sensitive
teaching"
C.B., Leicestershire
"I would like to say how much
I enjoyed the course. Meeting like minded people in
a lovely environment helped to spur us on to make
progress week by week and we were all delighted with
our individual results."
V.G., Devon
"Really enjoyed it, it was extremely useful. I
would recommend it to anybody who has a gundog, even
if they are not looking to work with it in the dog
in the field. It helps build the relationship with
the dog and a bond."
Sarah Scott, Cheshire
"I am very grateful to Gun Dog
Club for introducing me to what seems like a
different world"
Mike Hazell-Smith, East Sussex
Mike's story
"I
found the workshop very helpful and instructive -
I'm not an experienced handler and was doing quite a
few things wrong. It made me realise that there is
probably no such thing as a bad dog, just a badly
handled dog. My dog has been working much better at
home since. And the gaps in my training
methods have been filled in. Some things were a
complete revelation. I am so grateful - thank you
for organising the day. We both enjoyed it!"
Caroline, East Sussex
This is just a quick note to say thank you for what
has proved to be a wonderfully solid foundation for
Henry's future happiness and fulfilment.
Lynne and Richard Ward, Derbyshire
Lynne's story
The course, website and club have been fantastic and
have welcomed us even though we don't have "papers"
for Grace. I wanted to ensure you all knew we are
very grateful!
Nina Harding, Wiltshire
I'm extremely pleased to be able to report that
Ollie passed the test with flying colours, not
something I'd have believed possible only a couple
of months ago when I was at the point of parting
with Ollie, having tried three trainers without
noticeable change. I rang you in desperation. From
day one, our Gundog Club trainer helped us make
progress together. She was always calm, never phased
by any of the appalling or ridiculous behaviour
Ollie was showing, and has supported us through what
really was a difficult time
Nancy Smith, Gloucestershire
We both passed our tests with merit, we had a lovely
trainer and I’m looking forward to doing my grade
four. A big thank you to the gundog club for having
good trainers. Thank you very much
Caroline Thresher, Devon
"Impossible to put into words the
feelings of elation, amazement and joy"
Lynne Ward describing the experience of
handling Henry as he made his first 'real' retrieves
I just wanted to share with you my delight and also
say how helpful it has been to me as an absolute
novice - never having trained a gundog, let alone an
HPR, before - to have your organisation structuring
the training and levels in the way you do.
