snow in Hampshire

The Gundog Club has been informed of the tragic death of a dog called 'Ruby' on an icy lake at Olney in Buckinghamshire.

The  dog's owner has asked us to warn other dog owners of the hazard presented by frozen water  as this period of extreme weather sweeps across the country.

The tragedy occurred just before Christmas as 'Ruby' ran onto a  frozen lake.  Although the ice was solid enough to bear her weight around the edge,  the ice in the centre was thinner and she  fell through and got stuck.  The fire brigade were not in time to save her, and her devastated owner would like to warn other  dog owners not to take any chances near icy water with their dog.

Very heavy snow is forecast for the South East tonight, and we anticipate possible difficulties at the Gundog Club headquarters.  We will keep you updated should our customer services be affected.  In the meantime,  we hope you and your dogs all stay warm and safe.
