We are
sorry to hear that some of you have been
disappointed to find that your gundog Field Test results
were not published on our website.
We
cannot include all graded training results in our newsletters
and on our website,
nor can we guarantee to publish photographs
that are sent to us, but we do try and put results
up on the website if students or trainers ask us to.
Why can't you post up all the results?
Students
want to know “ how can there not
be enough space for my result, surely the website is
infinite” At the moment, much of this website is
still 'static' Which means to say that all the
text and images on it have to be entered by hand, by
a member of web team. As a result, we simply
do not have time to put up all the results.
We
always prioritise results with a photo, or ‘human
interest’ stories that we think will particularly
appeal to our readers. We almost always list
results where trainers send in a group photo, so If
you know your trainer or a member of your group has
sent us a photo and you don’t see your results up
within a couple of weeks, do let us know. We can
then check that your group has not been missed out
by accident. We will be able to put up all the
results in the future as explained below
Why does my group keep being left out?
Our
‘photoshoot’ articles are simply created in the
order in which the images are sent in, and in which
tests took place, provided that scoresheets/results
have arrived. We do
not ever give priority to a particular area or a
particular trainer. If your group has been left out
several times this is likely to be for one of the
reasons below.
How can I help ensure
my groups results get posted up
Trainers:
It helps immensely, and
speeds up the process, if you send the group’s
details (grade/achievement/student name/dog’s name)
in the email with your photo as these can
then be forwarded directly to our webteam. Please
type ‘course photoshoot’ followed by your location,
in the subject box of your email. Our staff have
to sort through thousands of emails each
week. Emails with obscure subject names are more
likely to go astray.
Students:
Not all our trainers have email, and/or digital
cameras. Some trainers ask a student to send in
photos, and that is fine, but emails still need to
be labelled clearly and if they do not contain any
details about the group, delays in publication are
likely. If you are sending a photo as an email
attachment on behalf of your group please ensure you
get the correct details from your trainer as above.
Please do not send
printed photos, we cannot use or return them. All
photos must be digital, please ensure that everyone
in your photo is happy to appear online!
What is the Gundog
Club doing towards increasing the number of results
displayed online.
We
are installing a database driven website section by
section. Once the database driven website is
complete, results will appear online automatically
as our administrators or trainers enter them into
the database. Trainers will be able to add results
and an image to the website from their own computer
on the day of the test if they wish. This is
likely to be one of the last sections of the website
to be completed, but we hope it will be
finished by the end of this year.
Other ways to get results/photos of you and
your dog, published
You can send us
your own story/results as an individual. Your story
is more likely to be published if it is
accompanied by a digital photograph of you and your
dog, and by some background information about
you both, and about how your training has progressed.
We usually put a link to these 'photo-stories' in
our newsletters too.
In
conclusion
Once the
website is fully database driven, it will be
possible for results to automatically appear on the
website as soon as they are entered into our
database. In the meantime, each page has
to be put up by hand, and we will try to post
as many as we can. Your patience is very much
appreciated, and, you can help increase your chances
of appearing on the website in the ways described
above.
