What is a 'positive-only' trainer

POSITIVE ONLY TRAINING EXPLAINED

Nowadays we all like to take a positive approach to our dog training.  But a positive-only trainer takes this a step further. Positive-only trainers avoid all aversives.  Although all ‘positive-only’ trainers make use of that part of the principles of learning theory concerning rewards, they avoid the use of those principles, which concern punishment or coercion.  Not all those who use clickers are positive-only trainers.  Some clicker trainers feel that those who use aversives at any time,  are not 'true' clicker trainers.  A full explanation of the scientific principles on which clicker training is based can be found here...

Progress in positive only training.

The Gundog Club is interested to follow the progress of any gundogs  which are trained using entirely positive-only methods as defined here  and welcomes any information on achievements by these dogs in competition
