Training courses

Gundog Club Assessors are experienced gundog trainers who have passed through our registration and screening procedures and been allocated to Category A, B or C

Most (but not all) of our Assessors are also experienced field trial competitors.  Some are field trial judges.   All are experienced in teaching people how to train their dogs.

What do Gundog Club Assessors do?

The primary role of our Assessors is to assess the field tests which candidates must pass in order to earn the awards available at each stage of the Graded Training Scheme.  Many of our Assessors also run Gundog Club training courses.   Most also offer private 1-2-1 lessons for those who need extra help

How do I contact an Assessor?

Assessors can be contacted via our office  on 01428 717529  or by emailing us on admin@thegundogclub.co.uk

How do I become an Assessor?

You will need to print off and fill in an Assessor Application form, and post it back to us. There are boxes on the application form where you may record your relevant experience including any judging experience.  It is important to be specific  -  entering 'many wins'  (instead of telling us how many 1st places, 2nd places, coms etc in FTs) will delay your application.  Ignore those boxes which do not apply

Applicants should be competent  dog trainers with good communication skills who are able to teach others what they know,   and to be impartial, considerate and objective.  Academic, professional  and management skills might seem irrelevant but they can be an indication of your ability to relate to others and to communicate well so if you have them,  feel free to put them down if you would like to.  You do not need any formal academic qualifications but you will need to be literate, articulate and organised.

If you think you would enjoy being part of the graded training scheme  -  why not fill out the form or ring us for a chat.    You can find our contact details here
