 Despite assurances late last week that the grounds were in good condition,  on Sunday 22^nd July  the CLA took the unprecendented decision to cancel this year’s show.  

Although receiving comparatively little attention from the national media, the Gamefair is one of the largest trading events in Europe.  Due to open to the public on Friday 27^th July,  behind the scenes preparations have been taking place on the show grounds for many weeks. Attracting visitors and exhibitors from across the UK and beyond, this major event was to be hosted this year at Harewood House in Yorkshire.   The area has been subject to heavy rainfall over the last few weeks.

Up until last Friday the organisers were confident that their efforts to drain and prepare the site were on target for the arrival of the first contractors and exhibitors today.  However, further appalling weather over the weekend and the weather forecast in the coming few days has led to the decision that the site will not be safe or ready to receive exhibitors or crowds.

The organisers expect economic impact of the cancellation to reach around £50 million.   According to the CLA website, visitors who have bought tickets in advance can apply for a  refund by returning their tickets.   We are awaiting information as to the procedures for refunding exhibitors.
